Impetigo

Impetigo

What is impetigo?

Impetigo is a skin infection caused by bacteria.
It results in red and yellow spots that cause itching.

How is impetigo treated?

Impetigo is treated with an antibiotic that must be applied in two different forms.
On one hand, as a syrup that needs to be taken twice a day and, on the other, as an ointment spread on the infected areas.

Tips

Before applying the ointment, the skin should be washed with water and soap.
For a few weeks, a lot of sunscreen should be applied to prevent marks on the skin.
Avoid humid and crowded places, as bacteria thrive in humidity, and impetigo is a very contagious disease.
Avoid contact with other people, even when sharing clothes or towels.

And remember, always ask your doctor!
